We can typically have a board-up crew on site the same day, often within a few hours of your call, to secure the opening. Permanent glass depends on the unit: a standard 1/4″ tempered lite in a common size can often be installed within a few business days, while custom-sized insulated units, impact-resistant laminated glass and specialty patterns are fabricated to order and generally take one to two weeks. We give you a firm lead time in writing when we quote.

It changes the failure mode. Laminated impact-resistant glass has a tough interlayer bonded between two lites, so when it is struck it cracks but holds together in the frame rather than falling out. We field-measure, we can work within existing framing where it is sound, and we can source patterned and textured glass that suits the building's period rather than fighting it.

In most cases we replace glass only. Aluminum storefront framing is designed to be re-glazed — the stops come off, the damaged lite comes out, the new unit goes in and gets re-sealed. Frame replacement is only necessary when the aluminum is bent from impact, corroded through, or the building has settled enough that the opening is no longer square.
