We can typically have a board-up crew on site the same day, often within a few hours of your call, to secure the opening. Permanent glass depends on the unit: a standard 1/4″ tempered lite in a common size can often be installed within a few business days, while custom-sized insulated units and specialty glass are fabricated to order and generally take one to two weeks. We give you a firm lead time in writing when we quote, rather than an optimistic guess.

In nearly every case, yes. Storefront glazing sits in what the International Building Code designates a hazardous location — glass within 24 inches of a door or within 18 inches of the walking surface must be safety glazing. That means tempered or laminated glass, permanently marked with the manufacturer's identification. Replacing a broken storefront lite with ordinary annealed glass is a code violation and a liability exposure, and we will not do it.

In most cases we replace glass only. Aluminum storefront framing is designed to be re-glazed — the stops come off, the damaged lite comes out, the new unit goes in and gets re-sealed. Frame replacement is only necessary when the aluminum itself is bent from impact, corroded through, or when the building has settled enough that the opening is no longer square. We tell you which situation you are in at the field measure, before you commit to anything.

Cost depends on four things: glass type, size, framing condition and access. A single tempered lite replaced in existing framing is at the low end. A full frontage in thermally broken aluminum with low-E insulated units is a substantially larger project. Because every opening is different, we do not publish flat pricing — we field-measure, then give you an itemized written quote breaking out glass, framing, labor and disposal so you can see exactly what you are paying for.

Regularly. We document the damage with photographs, provide an itemized scope and quote in the format carriers expect, and can coordinate directly with your adjuster. For multi-tenant properties we can also route documentation through your property manager. Board-up is typically covered as mitigation, and getting it done promptly usually strengthens rather than complicates the claim.

Rarely. Most Arlington storefront work is scheduled before opening, after close, or on a weekend specifically so you do not lose a day of trade. For larger frontage replacements we sequence the work opening by opening, securing each one before moving to the next, so the building is never left open overnight.

For conditioned retail or office space with a west- or south-facing frontage, generally yes. North Texas runs a long cooling season, and a low-E coating on surface two of an insulated unit blocks a large share of solar heat gain while keeping visible light transmission high — so the storefront still reads clear and merchandise colors stay true. The added cost over standard insulated glass is modest and typically pays back through reduced cooling load. For unconditioned vestibules it is usually not worth specifying.
