Storefront Glazing in Irving

Las Colinas Towers, Airport Corridor Retail and Older Irving Frontage

Irving covers a wider spread of commercial glazing than almost anywhere else we work, and the three main zones want different things. Las Colinas and the Urban Center run high-rise towers with floor-to-ceiling curtain wall and large ground-floor lobby glazing. The DFW Airport corridor along 114 and 183 is hotel, flex and corporate campus, much of it recent and built to a performance specification. And south and central Irving — Irving Boulevard, MacArthur, the Heritage District — holds older low-rise retail where the framing may date to the 1960s and the openings have moved since.

The Las Colinas work is where most glass companies quietly decline. Floor-to-ceiling and oversized panels are heavy, awkward, and frequently need lift equipment, swing stage or crane access plus building management coordination and after-hours scheduling. Our technicians are OSHA certified and we have the equipment for it. That capability is also why we can handle grand glass entrances — the tall entry assemblies common on Irving corporate buildings that a residential-scale shop simply cannot lift.

Storefront glass sits within reach of the walking surface, which makes it a code-designated hazardous location under the International Building Code. Safety glazing is not optional there. Every lite we install is tempered or laminated and permanently marked, and we leave the manufacturer's identification visible in the corner so any future inspector can verify compliance without pulling the unit.

Scope of Work

What Our Irving Storefront Installations Cover

New construction, tenant finish-out, insurance replacement and emergency repair — including the oversized work most shops turn down.

New Storefront Systems

Complete aluminum framing and glazing packages for new construction and full frontage rebuilds, including transoms, sidelites and integrated entrance doors.

Oversized & Floor-to-Ceiling Glazing

Tall panels and grand glass entrances for Las Colinas and Airport corridor buildings, with the lift equipment and crew the work actually requires.

Glass-Only Replacement

Broken, fogged or failed lites replaced in existing framing — usually without disturbing the aluminum, so the storefront stays sealed and square.

Emergency Board-Up & Repair

Break-ins, vehicle impact and storm damage secured the same day, with permanent glass ordered and installed as soon as the unit arrives.

ADA-Compliant Entrances

Entrance doors, closers, panic hardware and thresholds set to ADA clearance and opening-force requirements so your finish-out passes inspection.

Hotel & Hospitality Glazing

Lobby, entrance and ground-floor glazing for the hotel corridor around DFW Airport, scheduled around occupancy rather than against it.

Low-E coating, surface 2Las Colinas and Airport corridor glazing, where buildings were designed to a performance target and plain replacement glass undoes it.

What DFW Property Owners Say

Verified reviews from commercial and residential clients across the Metroplex.

★★★★★

Called late night after my front door to my business was broken. They were out to me within 90 minutes to board the door. Had my door as good as new within a week with replacement glass. Good people that do good business. Highly recommend!

★★★★★

I am a contractor, and I work with this glass shop on a regular basis because I have a lot of clients who want to install custom shower doors. They are the ones that I use for these orders, and they are always on point. I really like the way they do business.

Common Questions

Irving Storefront Glass Questions

Straight answers to what Irving business owners and property managers ask most.

Can you handle floor-to-ceiling glass in a Las Colinas tower?

Yes, and it is a large part of what we do in Irving. Oversized and floor-to-ceiling panels are heavy and awkward enough to need lift equipment, swing stage or crane access depending on the elevation, plus OSHA-certified technicians and building management coordination. This is exactly the work most glass companies quietly decline. The glass itself also has longer fabrication lead times, so tell us the building early — access coordination usually takes longer than the installation.

How quickly can you replace broken storefront glass in Irving?

We can typically have a board-up crew on site the same day, often within a few hours, to secure the opening. Permanent glass depends on the unit: a standard tempered lite in a common size can often be installed within a few business days, while custom insulated units and oversized panels are fabricated to order and generally take one to two weeks or longer for jumbo sizes. We give you a firm lead time in writing.

Does storefront glass have to be tempered?

In nearly every case, yes. Storefront glazing sits in what the International Building Code designates a hazardous location — glass within 24 inches of a door or within 18 inches of the walking surface must be safety glazing, meaning tempered or laminated and permanently marked. Replacing a broken storefront lite with ordinary annealed glass is a code violation and a liability exposure, and we will not do it.

Do you work with hotels around the DFW Airport corridor?

Yes. Hotel glazing has its own constraint, which is that the building never really closes — you cannot simply schedule a Sunday shutdown. We work around occupancy: sequencing lobby and entrance work through low-traffic windows, securing each opening before moving to the next, and coordinating with the property so guest access is never interrupted. It takes more planning than retail, and we plan for it upfront.

Can you replace just the glass, or does the frame have to come out?

In most cases we replace glass only. Aluminum storefront framing is designed to be re-glazed — the stops come off, the damaged lite comes out, the new unit goes in and gets re-sealed. Frame replacement is only necessary when the aluminum is bent from impact, corroded through, or the building has settled enough that the opening is no longer square. That last one is worth checking on older Irving Boulevard frontage.

Does the replacement glass need to match the original specification?

On newer Irving buildings, usually yes. Much of the Las Colinas and Airport corridor stock was glazed with low-E coatings and thermally broken framing to hit a performance target in the energy model. A plain insulated replacement looks identical, costs less, and permanently raises cooling load on that elevation — and in leased corporate space it can put the tenant out of step with their own fit-out spec. We identify what was there before quoting.

Will you have to close my business during installation?

Rarely. Most Irving storefront work is scheduled before opening, after close or on a weekend specifically so you do not lose a day of trade. For larger frontage replacements we sequence the work opening by opening, securing each before moving to the next, so the building is never left open overnight.

Are you licensed and insured to work in Irving?

Yes. Blade Glazing LLC is licensed, bonded and insured with full commercial general liability coverage, BBB accredited, and our technicians are OSHA certified. We can provide a certificate of insurance naming your entity or property management company as additional insured before work begins — essentially every Las Colinas and corporate property manager requires it, and we can turn it around quickly.
